WISH GRANTED - For children of a veteran who survived a tour in Iraq but was murdered at home. Today, we honor the late Ryan Hercher by granting a wish for 2 of his grieving children.
Ryan Hercher was just 39 years old when he was shot to death in a parking lot by an unknown gunman in May of this year. As of today, no one has been charged with his murder. Two of the children Ryan left behind, Layla & Riley, continue to grieve the loss of their daddy.
We received a wish for Layla & Riley from their mom Theresa. Theresa advised that in addition to dealing with her children’s grief, her son Riley is special needs, diagnosed with PTSD,ODD,ADHD,SPD and seizures. Riley struggled for years in school with all this and finally got back on track this year only to find out he lost his dad to murder. The trauma has set Riley back emotionally.
Theresa’s wish for Riley & Layla was a family trip to Gatlinburg, TN during the kids’ Xmas break from school. Teresa is a single mother of three and it would be impossible for her to afford such a trip at this time. The kids have been to TN in the past and absolutely loved it. As one of our missions is to help grieving children, especially these children seeing as they are the kids of a veteran who made incredible sacrifices for us, we knew we had to grant a big wish for them. This trip will give the kids a much needed break, a ton of joy and will create great family memories.
Today, we advised Theresa that her wish is going to become a reality. We are sending Teresa a check which will cover the cost of an amazing cabin with a view of the smoky mountains in Gatlinburg, money for gas to get the family to and from, and spending money for the family to enjoy on their trip.
Theresa has decided this vacation will be a surprise Christmas gift for her children. So if any of you know them please do not mention it. We love surprises! 🤫
We will continue to pray for justice for Ryan and for peace for all who knew and loved him.
