Bianca’s Kids received a wish from a woman named Michelle for the three children of Tara Alicea. Tara had been murdered; her remains found in a suitcase in January, 2014. Michelle explained that Tara left behind three young daughters who were now being raised by their grandmother - Sona. Sona, a grieving mother and struggling school bus driver was now having to raise three grieving little girls.
Michelle explained in her wish that the girls’ rooms at Sona’s house were in horrible condition and that grandma could not afford to make them any better. The children were sleeping on mattresses on the floor which were infested with bedbugs. Michelle wished for 3 new mattresses for Tara’s children. Bianca’s Kids granted Michelle’s wish but went much further. Our goal was to provide these three beautiful children with bedrooms wherein peace and solace could be found. Rooms where they would be surrounded by everything they loved and that would make grandma’s home THEIR home. A month after Tara’s body was found Bianca’s Kids and its volunteers tore the two dilapidated bedrooms apart from ceiling to floor and conducted 2 complete bedroom makeovers.
