Shelbi Martin was young, beautiful and the mother of 2 precious little ones. She had a bright future ahead of her. On October 31, 2019 all of that would change when Shelbi was killed in a murder-suicide.
Shelbi was raised by her loving grandmother Joann who had already endured great loss and sacrificed her life to raise Shelbi. Joann, who should be enjoying retirement is now left grieving the loss of her precious Shelbi & raising Shelbi’s 2 little girls (a 4 year old and a 4 MONTH old baby.)
Shelbi’s 4 year old witnessed the nightmare of her mother’s murder and Joann found Shelbi. Shelbi was murdered in an apartment she lived in with her children and Joann. Trauma is an understatement. As a result, their apartment became a crime scene and Joann & the kids became displaced.
Many people reached out for help for Joanne & the kids including a woman named Katie McCormick. Katey explained that Joann and the children could not return to the apartment. They simply could no longer live in the place where Shelby was killed and that held such devastating memories for all of them. The problem was they couldn’t afford the thousands of dollars it would take to move and live somewhere else.
Thanks to the generosity of our incredible supporters we were able to find a beautiful 3 bedroom house for Joann and the kids and to pay their first and last month’s rent and security deposit. Our help made the new home/move affordable for Joann. We also collected about $1000 worth of gift cards for Joanne to use for anything she needs for the children.
Joanne and the children moved into the new house yesterday and will be there for Christmas thanks to YOU.
Thank you to everyone who helped with this Wish. We are sure Shelby is Looking down from heaven and grateful to all of you for helping her babies.
Here is the wish we received via our website at biancaskids.org.
Dear Bianca’s Kids,
We are looking to get Laurel an iPad so she can work on learning to write... Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 8 months; she has difficulty with her fine motor skills. She knows her letters and is learning to spell, however she can't control her letter formation and therefore can't write. Her own iPad with apps to trace letters will help her muscle memory and teach her to write. An iPad will help her keep up with her classmates as they learn to spell and read.
Love Renee (mom)
Dear Renee, This gift is going to change Laurel’s life and we’re so happy we could do it for her. One iPad coming right up!
Merry Christmas from Bianca’s Kids.
WISH GRANTED - on this #GivingTuesday we are granting a wish and GIVING to a precious little boy with autism. Meet Antonio.
We recieved a wish via our website at Biancaskids.org from a woman named Deanna. Deanna explained that her adorable one-year-old Anthonio was diagnosed with autism and severe sensory spectrum. Accordingly, Deanna's wish was for some assistance with sensory age appropriate toys for Antonio. Antonio's therapists had suggested such toys, a weighted blanket, blocks, etc. but these items can be very costly and mom couldn't afford them all at this time. Deanna reached out to us after reaching out to varoius other sources for assistance with no luck.
We are glad to report that her last stop was the best stop. Today, we granted Deanna wish with a plethora of sensory toys, a weighted blanket, a bubble machine, and an age apprpriate tablet for Antonio. We know how beneficial these items can be to a child's progression and Antonio doesn't have to wait any longer for them. Everything will be delivered to our little buddy in a couple days.
Happy holidays Antonio!
We received a wish from a wonderful woman named Anissa. Anissa explained that her niece Aisha Dixon was brutally murdered. Aisha left behind 12 precious children.Unbelievably, some of Aisha’s children witnessed their mother’s murder.
One of Aisha’s children “Zakiyah” is Anissa’s great-niece. Anissa asked for help with 2 gifts Zakiyah was wishing for but were both too expensive for Anissa to pay for.
Here is the actual wish we received:
My wish for my great-niece, it is to see her smile. This year has been a difficult year for this child. Her mother was brutally murdered in front of 3 of her other siblings by her boyfriend. My niece (her mother) left behind 12 children and this has been really hard for my family. I had her to write down 2 gifts she wanted for Christmas and she wrote, she wanted a Juno Elephant and L.O.L Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper. I would love to see her smile as she open up these gifts. She has gone through so much. Please Google her mom’s story (Aisha Dixon is her mother’s name). I pray that we hear from someone soon about granting her wish. I thank you all in advance.
Anissa, we are so sorry for your incredible loss. We are ordering both gifts for your great-niece.
Merry Christmas from Bianca’s Kids.
