We received a wish for Aaliyah from her mentor, Jannete. Aaliyah is a rising superstar at Douglas MacArthur High School in Illinois where she will begin her senior year in the fall. Despite her personal struggles and battle with epilepsy, she continues to maintain a positive outlook and give back to her community. She is a great student and an advocate for others who struggle with disabilities/illness. Aaliyah's dreams to someday start her own nonprofit.
Aaliyah is one of six children and will be the first in her family to graduate high school & attend college! This fall, she begins her college application process but did not have all of the necessary resources to do so. Jannete wished for a laptop for Aaliyah to help ease her application process.
Jannete - we are just as proud of Aaliyah as you are. Accordingly, we are sendng her a shiny new iPad Air so that she may easily apply to any college she wishes.
Happy college hunting Aaliyah!! Reach for the stars.
He stole the country’s heart when the video of Kayden walking on his prosthetic legs for the first time went viral. This 2-year-old double amputee gave the world much needed inspiration when he yelled “I got it, I got it!!” For that, we knew we had to grant a wish for little Kayden. He wanted a Nabi Tablet and to meet the Philadelphia Eagles. We made both wishes come true for him.
Dyshon (“Dunk”) is the most adorable little boy. He struggles with physical issues but one would never know it due to his positive attitude. His smile is contagious. Dunk’s wish to Bianca’s Kids was for a new bike. We granted Dunk’s wish and he hasn’t stopped peddling since.
Dylan suffered years of bullying which resulted in emotional scars. He found peace in his love of dance. At the time we received his wish, Dylan was attending the dance school of his dreams in NYC. This young and incredible talent was faced with possibly having to leave school due to financial struggles. In order to ensure that did not happen, Dylan was awarded a $6,000 scholarship from Bianca’s Kids to continue to pursue his dream.
This adorable young lady is YaYa. YaYa is a cancer warrior who made a wish to Bianca’s Kids for a shiny new pink bike to match her fabulous personality. We granted YaYa’s wish. Today, she peddles around Philly on the bike she loves so much.
Sometimes wishes are simple. As was the case with Dylan. Dylan was battling cancer when we received a simple wish that would bring joy to a struggling young man. The wish was for an airsoft gun, something Dylan wanted for a very long time but couldn’t afford. He was beyond happy with his gift.
Bill Lougherty was a young father killed in a car accident just weeks before Christmas. We received a wish to help Bill’s wife with Christmas gifts for her children. We were happy to grant this wish by gifting Mrs. Lougherty with a Target gift card so that she could shop for Christmas gifts for the children Bill left behind.
Like most teens, 17-year-old Tiffany had a dream of going to her prom with pride and dignity. Only Tiffany was different than most; she was battling brain cancer. In May 2014, Tiffany was aware of the fact that her time on earth was limited. The one wish she had before she died was to have the greatest prom night ever. Bianca’s Kids made Tiffany’s dying wish come true. We gave Tiffany a complete prom makeover, which included but was not limited the following:
Sadly, shortly after prom night Tiffany passed away. Thanks to Bianca’s Kids, she took with her a cherished memory.
Bianca’s Kids received a wish from a woman named Michelle for the three children of Tara Alicea. Tara had been murdered; her remains found in a suitcase in January, 2014. Michelle explained that Tara left behind three young daughters who were now being raised by their grandmother - Sona. Sona, a grieving mother and struggling school bus driver was now having to raise three grieving little girls.
Michelle explained in her wish that the girls’ rooms at Sona’s house were in horrible condition and that grandma could not afford to make them any better. The children were sleeping on mattresses on the floor which were infested with bedbugs. Michelle wished for 3 new mattresses for Tara’s children.
Bianca’s Kids granted Michelle’s wish but went much further. Our goal was to provide these three beautiful children with bedrooms wherein peace and solace could be found. Rooms where they would be surrounded by everything they loved and that would make grandma’s home THEIR home.
A month after Tara’s body was found Bianca’s Kids and its volunteers tore the two dilapidated bedrooms apart from ceiling to floor and conducted 2 complete bedroom makeovers. This wish package included the following:
Bianca’s Kids received a wish from Denise (photographed in first photo), a single mother of three children (Mason-6, Julianna-7 & Alicia-13 all photographed above).
Denise’s was a victim of ***** which inflicted severe emotional wounds on her children. The children had to be uprooted and moved six times in one year due to Denise’s financial struggles & circumstances. Denise informed Bianca’s Kids that none of her children had ever had a nice birthday party. She simply wanted for her children what most take for granted.
We surprised the entire family with a surprise birthday party fit for a king and two queens. (Michelle was not informed of what we were doing until she arrived at her granted wish)
Michelle had been walking an hour each way to/from work because she didn't have the $400 needed to repair her car. Bianca’s Kids provided her a check for $400 along with a new wardrobe at the wish granting.
